Here are some of our key policy statements and positions related to seafood sustainability and Fish for Life.
Our View on Commercial Whaling
Because of their histories and similarities it is difficult to completely disassociate fishing from commercial whaling in every respect, although the two industries do have distinct institutions, governance, markets and commercial structures.
Findus Group does not buy or sell whale meat products. Also we will not knowingly source any of our fish/seafood products from companies directly or indirectly involved in commercial whaling activities.
The International Whaling Commission (IWC) has an important role to control and regulate commercial whaling. The IWC’s effectiveness depends upon an agreed mechanism to deliver this regulation and we encourage all whaling nations to comply fully with the IWC guidelines. Although we are not a political organization, we will exert our influence where we can and where we believe it is directly related to seafood or the day to day operation of our business.
